The new money comes from a special Community Sports Grants fund which was established last year as a result of a £250,000 amendment to the Council's 2015/16 Revenue Budget, successfully moved by Tory Councillor Richard Eddy, which won all-party support and was incorporated into the Mayor's civic budget.
The nine groups range over the length and breadth of the city, from Avonmouth in the west to Fishponds in the east, and from Ashley Down in the north to Highridge in the south.
In a letter to ward councillors, Mayor George Ferguson said: "Each of these sports projects is doing considerable good work within the community and is making a significant contribution towards maintaining and increasing sports participation.
"They are projects which have a significant impact on youth provision and/or close links to schools, projects that have been at an advanced stage of development and projects which, on the whole, have match-funding contributions."
The grant fund's initiator, Cllr Richard Eddy (Con, Bishopsworth), said he was thrilled that one of the groups to benefit was the Highridge United Football Club, based in Lakemead Grove, Highridge, which is planned to get a grant of £50,000.
Cllr Eddy said: "My intention was that this grant pot will help match-fund the many deserving community sports initiatives in our city and especially be of real benefit to bodies working with young people.
"I am delighted that one of groups to benefit is Highridge United Football Club, which has already got planning consent for ambitious plans to upgrade their playing field, build new changing-rooms and provide car-parking."
